Poker Face Analysis

As part of my research, looking at similar artists within the same genre as Halsey - Electropop.

Lady GaGa - Poker Face

Lady GaGa's Poker Face's music video is very different to Halsey's style as it takes on the more electronic side of the genre. The video has a vague storyline behind it which follows the lyrics of the song about gambling. The video is always focused on Lady Gaga, who is always juxtaposing her surroundings. If the other dancers in the video are in black she'll be wearing white of blue to stand out and make her the focus of attention.

Her music videos are rather different to Halsey's. Namely because the songs themselves are very different. They may come under the same genre but they are almost at other ends of the genre; Halsey's music being rather dark and sad whereas Lady GaGa's is upbeat, usually about partying and having fun.

Even Lady GaGa's newer videos such as Bad Romance are very different to Halsey's latest video Bad At Love.

Once again Lady Gaga is using her clothing to stand out from the rest of the featured dancers. If they're wearing white she's in sparkling silver diamonds. It all makes sure she is the centre of attention throughout the video. Her video, this time, isn't as concrete about following the lyrics of the song, however there are moments that do suggest she's following her lyrics. Mostly the chorus:

I want your love and

I want your revenge

You could write me a bad romance

I want your love and

All your lover's revenge

You and me could write a bad romance
