Halsey is part of the electropop genre. Which sounds like a not so popular genre but some of the artist included in this genre are Lady Gaga, Kylie Minogue and Madonna. Halsey's first big break was due to her collab with The Chainsmokers.

Her original audience was smaller, sort of niche due to the topics and connotations of her music. That and many of her songs are marked explicit, meaning few radio stations could play them to a wider audience.

After Closer hit number one and Halsey turned Castle into the main song for The Huntsman: Winters War, Halsey's audience became a lot more mainstream and her next singles Now or Never and Eyes Closed were both played on the radio.

Her audience now is very much teenagers and young adults with an interest in pop music that's slightly different from the rest. Basically it sounds like a pop song but is has a deeper, darker meaning behind some of the lyrics of her less known songs.

Which is why we are using one of her darker songs as our backing song, and pairing it with a creepy setting that follows the lyrics of the song.
